Transport and Environment - T&E is an independent, non-partisan think tank and expert group focused on decarbonizing transport in Europe by 2050.  We bring a track record of working with all political parties, as well as industry and business. We have shaped some of Europe’s most important environmental laws through our ability to communicate our message and make a persuasive case for change. In Brussels, London and other European capitals this has been critical to our success. We are looking to hire a highly motivated media and communications professional to join our Polish national office and help us to achieve even greater change in the future.

Working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, the communications officer will ensure the successful planning and execution of communications related to T&E Poland's priorities. The ideal candidate will have a successful record working with Polish media, be a persuasive writer, and have experience in developing social media content. They are an energetic team-player with experience working in a communications and media environment and knowledge of transport, energy or industry transition issues.

We’re looking for an entrepreneurial communications officer, able to spot opportunities and work with the team to find the right channels to get our messages across. This is a post in T&E Poland and the successful candidate will be able to shape the development of our strategy and plans in Poland, and develop new communications channels to get our message across.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement the communications and media strategy for T&E Poland.

• Working to create and deliver communications plans related to T&E Poland's priority areas, including drafting press releases, doing general media work and executing launches for key research and reports.

• Build and manage media relations with media outlets, newswires and correspondents based in Poland and occasionally other European countries, including:

• Pitching stories and interviews to print, broadcast and online media: drafting and pitching press releases, articles for publication, Op-Eds, letters to the editor and other media materials.

• Executing media outreach strategies to automotive, energy, shipping, aviation, and environment trade publications as well as top mainstream national and regional media.

• Monitoring the media in Poland, identifying key trends and opportunities for T&E.

• In coordination with the Digital Manager, updating relevant sections of the T&E website and creating social media content based on our campaigns, key reports and infographics.

• Organize media briefings and events.

• Liaise and work closely with external agencies e.g. full-service Public Relations companies, digital and video agencies or polling agencies.

• Contribute to in-house (including regular information to T&E Polish members) and donor reporting.

Skills and competences required:

• Strong experience in Polish media outreach, as well as a good understanding of the Polish media market and the requirements of different kinds of media i.e. print, newswire, TV, radio, and web.

• Good political awareness and diplomatic skills, with the ability to navigate sensitive situations and work effectively with a range of stakeholders.

• Strong and fast writing skills, with an ability to translate technical reports into media friendly communications materials.

• Strong social media experience in a professional context.

• Excellent time management, forward planning, and prioritization skills, with the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.

• 5 years of relevant experience in communications, journalism or a related field, ideally in transport, environmental and/or energy communications.

• Native-level Polish as well as proficiency in written and spoken English. Where appropriate, language training will be made available to improve proficiency.

Practical Information

The position will be primarily based in Warsaw, with the opportunity for home working,  and would also involve some travel to key EU capitals, mostly Brussels.
