Job description

🫵 Role: Data Analyst (Battery & Materials)

📍 Location: Brussels

📅 Deadline for applications: 08/05/2026, at midnight

Data Analyst (Battery & materials)

T&E is looking for a talented and dynamic data analyst to join the team to help drive the transition to electric vehicles. The role will cover a range of topics related to vehicle electrification, with a focus on batteries and raw materials. This will include being part of T&E’s work to ensure the transition to electric vehicles is sustainable and made in Europe. As T&E’s batteries and materials researcher, you will support strategies to secure circular, resilient and responsible battery value chains in Europe. You will also support a wider team of analysts working on a range of topics related to vehicle electrification.

The electrification of transport will rely on batteries and their supply chains. Developments in battery chemistries to fulfil those needs are changing rapidly. We need a researcher to quantitatively analyze these new technological developments and their economic feasibility, scalability, and climate, environmental, and social impacts. We need convincing and compelling charts, analysis, reports and presentations to convert complex information into advocacy and media friendly material.

This position requires someone with proven analytical and modelling skills. We are also looking for someone who is flexible and can adapt to different policy priorities across vehicle electrification, supporting the wider team with ad hoc requests.

Main functions of the role:

●Taking a leading role on T&E’s analytical work on battery supply chains and critical minerals, including battery recycling and metals such as aluminum, nickel and lithium.

●Developing innovative and evidence-driven reports, briefings and other written material.

●Inputting data into advocacy and campaign materials as well as supporting colleagues with visual evidence.

●Support the organization with ad hoc requests and fast technical responses across a range of topics, for both internal and for third party stakeholders, such as policy makers and journalists.

●Analyzing or developing models that project the supply and market for batteries, their supply chains and critical materials.

●Updating and expanding T&E datasets, including overseeing data purchase and delivery.

●Analyzing and dissecting data as well as complex policy issues from a variety of sources including scientific studies, European Commission reports and models being used to shape EU battery and raw materials policy. From this, develop a detailed understanding of the issues from an environmental, economic and societal perspective.

●Representing T&E in EU (or national) technical expert groups and workshops on the above topics.

●Being a key part of both the Trends & Analysis team, where all analysts in the organization sit, and the critical raw materials policy team.

The successful candidate would ideally meet the following criteria:

●At least one to two years relevant professional experience in the field of electric vehicles, batteries or critical minerals (such as nickel, lithium, aluminum and steel).

●Strong analytical skills, an ability to quickly grasp technical issues and assess data. Strong foundation in spreadsheet analysis, and ideally in programming such as python.

●Proven record of delivering quality, accurate and concise written work in English.

●Ability to effectively present work and communicate in English. Other European languages are considered a bonus.

●Good data visualization skills.

●Project management experience including interpersonal and team-working skills and an ability to deliver to tight deadlines.

●The confidence to think and act with initiative, to engage and influence policymakers of different stripes, industry representatives and other stakeholders at the highest level.

We would also welcome applications from candidates with more experience.

Practicalities

This position is advertised as a permanent, full-time position based in Brussels. While we offer a flexible working environment, there is an expectation that there are at least two days per week spent in the office.
