    • London, England, United Kingdom
  • National Offices

Job description

Transport & Environment (T&E), Europe’s foremost clean transport think tank and campaign group, is on the lookout for an Aviation Manager to champion our UK efforts in decarbonising the aviation sector. If you’re committed to environmental sustainability and believe in harnessing policy and technology for transformative change, this role may be for you.

About the Role:

Your main objective will be to lead T&E UK’s aviation program, driving the shift to zero-emission transport solutions. With a strong evidence-based approach, T&E UK’s advocacy focuses on impactful measures to achieve the UK’s carbon budgets. You will lead initiatives to advance UK policies supporting aviation decarbonisation. Your work will span various topics including sustainable aviation fuels, industrial policy, and non-CO2 impacts of aviation, holding the aviation sector accountable for its environmental footprint. Based in our London office with occasional travel to Brussels, you’ll report directly to the UK Director.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advocacy Strategy: Design and implement advocacy strategies targeting UK regulators, politicians, and media to promote aviation decarbonisation, ensuring alignment with T&E’s strategic goals.

  • Policy Development & Research: Support T&E UK’s position on aviation issues by commissioning and delivering impactful research to support T&E’s aims, with minimal supervision.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and nurture relationships with UK policymakers, industry, NGOs, and other stakeholders, forming coalitions with key industry players.

  • Collaboration: Coordinate activities with environmental and civil society organizations, T&E members, and internal teams for cohesive strategy implementation.

  • Media and Public Engagement: Generate and respond to media interest in sustainable aviation, speaking at events, and representing T&E in public forums.

  • Cross-Sectoral Work: We are a small team so sometimes you will be asked to help the other colleagues, including coordinate collaborative efforts across sectors in the UK, supporting various strategic and advocacy initiatives of the UK office.
