Senior Policy Manager (Aviation, Shipping & Fuels)
- Hybrid
- London, England, United Kingdom
- T&E UK
Job description
Senior Policy Manager – Aviation, Shipping & Fuels
Join us to make aviation and shipping climate-neutral
Aviation and shipping are some of the fastest-growing sources of global carbon emissions. Flying emits more CO₂ per kilometer than any other mode of travel, meanwhile, shipping, the backbone of global trade, still operates with almost no meaningful climate regulation, even though it emits 20% of the UK’s transport emissions.
The UK continues to subsidize aviation while both sectors lobby hard to slow climate action. We think that needs to change. If you want to help accelerate the clean transition of two of the most strategically important and globally influential transport sectors, we’d love to hear from you.
Your Role
As Senior Policy Manager for Aviation, Shipping and Fuels, you will shape how the UK transitions these sectors to climate neutrality. You will:
Develop and deliver political strategies to transform aviation, shipping and Fuels in the UK and ensure that T&E UK is a leading voice in the sector.
Oversee T&E UK’s policy work on sustainable fuels, including hydrogen-based and synthetic fuels crucial to cleaning up both aviation and shipping
Line-manage the work of the UK Sustainable Shipping Senior Officer
Engage with the UK legislative processes influencing UK policy to decarbonize faster.
Engage with policymakers, industry and other NGO’s to drive forward policy change.
Serve as a key point of contact for policymakers, industry, media, and stakeholders.
Represent T&E UK at external events and in the media
Organize and deliver impactful events and campaigns.
This is a rare opportunity to help drive climate action in sectors that are global, complex, high-impact and urgently in need of change.
What You Bring
7+ years of experience in policy or advocacy, ideally in climate or energy.
Strong understanding of how climate policy drives market change in the UK
Confidence and motivation to engage with senior political, industry, start-up, and civil society leaders.
Excellent communication and strategic thinking skills
Experience in project management, with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Enthusiasm for working in an international team and achieving real-world change.
Knowledge of aviation, shipping, or sustainable fuels is an advantage but curiosity, political and economic insight, and drive matter more
