Job description

Policy Manager (Green Fuels & Transport)

Transport & Environment (T&E), Europe’s leading clean transport NGO, is on the hunt for a Policy Manager to supercharge our UK work on transport decarbonization. From driving down aviation emissions to shaping the future of sustainable fuels, this is your chance to be at the heart of the fight for a greener future. If you’re passionate about climate action and love turning bold ideas into real-world impact, we want to hear from you.

About the role

You’ll be leading the charge to make UK transport cleaner, fairer, and fit for a zero-carbon world. With aviation and green fuels at the center of your portfolio, you’ll design and deliver smart strategies that get results — influencing policies, holding industry to account, and shaping big-picture solutions like industrial policy, financing, taxation and tackling non-CO₂ impacts. Based in our London office (with occasional trips to Brussels to plug into the European scene), you’ll report directly to the UK Director and work alongside a creative, passionate, and fast-moving London based team, liaising with expert colleagues in Brussels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement advocacy strategies targeting UK regulators, politicians, and media to accelerate transport decarbonization, with a particular focus on aviation and green fuels.

  • Commission and deliver evidence-based research to support T&E’s positions on aviation, green fuels, and related areas.

  • Build and nurture relationships with UK policymakers, industry, NGOs, and other stakeholders, forming coalitions with key players in aviation and fuels.

  • Coordinate activities with environmental and civil society organizations, T&E members, and internal teams for cohesive strategy implementation.

  • Work closely with colleagues in other sectors (e.g. shipping, road transport, energy) to ensure coherence and maximize impact across T&E’s UK strategy.

  • Act as a spokesperson on aviation and green fuels, generating and responding to media interest, speaking at events, and representing T&E in public forums.

  • Support broader UK office activities, helping colleagues where needed and contributing to wider UK advocacy initiatives.

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum of six years’ experience in climate, energy, or transport

  • Strong understanding of the UK political system and policymaking, including political analysis, regulations, and legislative process.

  • Excellent project management, prioritization, and deadline management skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-changing political environment.

  • Proven ability to collaborate in a dynamic team environment.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, adaptable to diverse audiences.

  • Experience as a spokesperson or handling media requests.

  • A positive, can-do attitude and ability to work with high autonomy.

Location
You’ll be based in our London office, spending at least two days a week with the team in person. The role comes with plenty of variety, from external meetings to high-profile events (sometimes at short notice), and may at times require additional days in the office depending on business needs. You will be expected to occasionally travel to Brussels.

About Us
