Starting in Europe, our independent, evidence-based research, coupled with powerful advocacy and communications, has helped shape impactful policies that accelerate a just and efficient transition to a zero-emission transportation system. However, achieving our mission requires global collaboration.
In 2025, we are expanding our operations into the Asia-Pacific region, starting with Singapore. We are looking for a Maritime Transport Policy Manager to lead our advocacy efforts in decarbonizing the shipping industry in Singapore, the world's largest transshipment and fuel bunkering hub. In this role, you will be responsible for advocating for national policies and identifying/working on regional policy opportunities with relevant partners that drive the decarbonization of the shipping sector. You will manage and grow T&E's maritime shipping portfolio in, Singapore, including building strategic relationships with key stakeholders, forming coalitions, commissioning research, and gathering data and evidence to support T&E's policy proposals. As T&E's expert on maritime decarbonization in Singapore, you will play a pivotal role in advancing policy initiatives to decarbonise shipping. T&E is calling for bold global and national policies to set the shipping sector on a path to zero emissions by 2050. Without such action, the sector could account for up to 10% of global GHG emissions by 2050.

This position will report to the Singapore Director and work closely with colleagues in Brussels and other national offices when necessary.
The role will involve:
Leading T&E’s clean shipping policy work in Singapore in relation but not limited to emissions pricing, clean fuels standards and market development, green corridors, energy sector (beyond electrification), port electrification, and zero emission technologies
Developing position papers and advocacy & analytical materials
Establishing relationships and coalitions with regulators, NGO representatives and industry stakeholders to expand T&E’s outreach in Singapore and the region;
Responding to and generating media interest in T&E shipping priorities;
Attending key policy meetings, speaking and representing T&E’s policy and analytical work at industry, governmental or NGOs events;
Support the Shipping and Singapore team/s in their overall functioning.
Job requirements
The successful candidate should meet the following criteria:
5- 7 years of relevant work experience and interest in climate-related issues and the energy transition;
The ability and motivation to learn technical, economic and legal information, to develop under limited supervision new political, economic or legal arguments and evidence and use them to convince key stakeholders;
The confidence to think and act with initiative, to engage and influence policy-makers of different stripes, industry representatives and other stakeholders at appropriate levels;
Attention to detail;
Strong Interpersonal skills;
Strong communication and presentation skills;
Excellent working knowledge of English. Other relevant languages are an asset.
Practicalities
The position is to be based in Singapore. Until we have an office, homeworking will be required. When we find an office we would expect 2-3 days a week in the office. Some travel to Europe and the region should be expected.
The salary package depends on experience and skills. For this position, we offer a range of xxx (based on a Singapore contract), depending on experience.
